Punjab police on Sunday lathi charged student protestors outside Lovely Professional University in order to disperse them after the protests turned violent.
The student protests erupted following the alleged rape of a female student by an outsider at the university.

Earlier on Sunday, the demonstrations took a violent turn, as students damaged property and blocked a national highway.
Protestors were seen climbing the decommissioned MiG-23UM aircraft installed on the campus, whilst a few others mounted on a military tank.
