Preeti skillfully won the trust of the houseowner, Sudha, and her son and gradually assumed control of the household's kitchen and daily expenses. As Sudha's health deteriorated and she became bedridden, Preeti clandestinely married her son, Shivam, in a private ceremony, keeping the union concealed until the right moment.
In a shocking case of alleged property usurpation, Ghaziabad Police is probing the involvement of a woman who initially joined a family in Ghaziabad as a house maid and became a 'bahu' to illegaly grab the property worth crores. As per a TOI report, the Police is probing the activities of a gang engaged in illegal property takeovers across the National Capital Region (NCR).

As per the report, the accused Preeti (25), reportedly involved in multiple fake marriages spanning Ghaziabad, Delhi, and Sonipat, drew police attention following a complaint filed by the daughter of a former college chancellor. The complainant accused Preeti of attempting to transfer ownership of the two-story Muradnagar house where she was employed as a maid. The unfolding investigation revealed a complex web of deceit and manipulation.

Police arrested a man named Sachin from Masuri, Ghaziabad who introduced Preeti to Sudha Singh, a 70-year-old Muradnagar house owner valued at over Rs 5 crore. Initial findings suggest that Sachin played a central role in the gang's property acquisition endeavors. Recognizing Sudha as a vulnerable target due to her health and mentally challenged 28-year-old son, Sachin initiated contact through his sister, Parvez. Seizing the opportunity, he introduced Preeti to Sudha as a domestic help, and she was hired accordingly, according to DCP Vikas Yadav.

A Legal Quandary: Tragedy struck when Sudha passed away in August last year. Subsequently, her daughter, Akanksha, who resides with her husband elsewhere in the city and holds the position of college chancellor once occupied by her mother, offered to care for Shivam. Akanksha, informed Preeti that her services were no longer required. However, Preeti dropped a bombshell, revealing her secret marriage to Shivam and producing photos of their wedding ceremony. She declared her intention to leave only with a share of the house and other family properties.

Despite Akanksha's efforts to reason with Preeti, the impasse persisted, with allegations of attempts to evict Shivam and threats from Sachin. Police are currently investigating whether the marriage between Preeti and Shivam was legally registered. DCP Vikas Yadav clarified, "For now, we have called her for questioning."

A History of Deceit: This shocking case is not an isolated incident. Preeti's history is marred with similar fraudulent activities. In 2014, she purportedly married Delhi-based property dealer Rakesh Singh, filed for divorce shortly afterward, and sought a share of his property, alleging domestic violence. An out-of-court settlement was eventually reached, benefiting Preeti financially. The following year, she married Sumit Nain of Sonipat, sought divorce again within months, and reached another out-of-court settlement.

Police are actively collaborating with law enforcement agencies in other states to delve deeper into Preeti's criminal record. Meanwhile, Sachin, the alleged mastermind behind this scheme, has a significant history of criminal activities, with multiple cases registered against him, including fraud and charges under the Gangster Act, stated investigating officer Surender Singh.
