Om Birla reconstitutes key Parliamentary panel; Karti Chidambaram, Mahua Moitra among members
According to a Lok Sabha bulletin, the Committee on Subordinate Legislations will be headed by Balashowry Vallabhaneni of the Janasena Party.
The newly reconstituted panel features prominent parliamentarians across party lines.
The nominated members include Karti Chidambaram and Mohammad Jawed (both Congress), Mahua Moitra (TMC), N K Premachandran (RSP) and A Raja (DMK).
Out of the total 15 designated seats on the committee, three positions currently remain vacant.
The Committee on Subordinate Legislation is one of the key standing committees in Parliament.
Its primary objective is to scrutinise and report to the House whether the powers to make rules, regulations, sub-rules, and by-laws delegated by Parliament or conferred by the Constitution are being properly exercised within the limits of such delegation by various ministries.
