Loan scam: CBI arrests former Assam CM Hiteshwar Saikia's son

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested Former Assam CM Hiteswar Saikia's son Ashok Saikia in an alleged loan scam in Guwahati, Assam on November 07. The case pertains to a loan taken from Assam State Co-operative and Agriculture Development (ASCARD) Bank. “The politically-motivated case was registered in 1996. I've paid the loan and received acknowledgement. I'll submit it in the court,” he said before the detention.
