Lightning kills 18 elephants in Assam's Nagaon district

Minister for Environment and Forest Parimal Suklabaidya said that he would visit the site with PCCF (wildlife) and other officials on Friday morning to take stock of the situation.

The Forest and Environment Minister would report to the Chief Minister with findings of the enquiry.
Around 18 numbers of elephants died due to massive lightning at Kothiatoli range in Nagaon district on Wednesday.

Minister for Environment and Forest Parimal Suklabaidya said that he would visit the site with PCCF (wildlife) and other officials on Friday morning to take stock of the situation.

Suklabaidya said a team of forest and veterinary officials had already visited the site.


Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took stock of mysterious and expressed deep concern. He directed Forest and Environment to proceed to the site of incident to inquire into the matter.

The Forest and Environment Minister would report to the Chief Minister with findings of the inquiry.
