Lakhimpur Kheri case: SC grants eight-week interim bail to Ashish Mishra, directs him to leave UP
The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted eight weeks’ interim bail to Ashish Mishra, the prime accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence case. He is the son of Union minister of state for home Ajay Kumar Mishra.

A division bench of justices Surya Kant and JK Maheshwari ordered that Mishra cannot stay in UP or Delhi after his release.

The bench ordered that Mishra should leave UP within a week of his release from jail. He was also instructed to inform the court about his location. The court will hear the bail plea again on March 14.


The bench made it clear that any attempt by Mishra or his family members to influence the witnesses involved would amount to cancellation of his bail. Also, if Mishra is found attempting to delay the trial, it would be a valid ground for cancellation of his bail, SC ordered.

Mishra has been directed to mark his attendance in the police station of the jurisdiction of his location. The court has also suo motu granted interim bail to four co-accused in the case.
