PM Narendra Modi, during his Gujarat visit on May 26, announced that Kutch will have one of the world's biggest solar power plants.

Kutch will also get the world's largest green hydrogen hub, the PM said at a rally in Bhuj.

As much as a third of India's total coastal trade is handled by Kutch , Modi pointed out.


After 2001 earthquake, the world thought that Kutch was finished, but that did not happen as I had faith in people, the Prime minister said.

Earlier in the day, the PM held a major roadshow in Vadodara, with kith and kin of Colonel Sofiya Qureshi in attendance.

Modi began his two-day visit to Gujarat with a roadshow from the Vadodara airport to the Airforce station on the city's suburbs.

The govt is focusing on the development of shipbuilding industry in India, Modi said at the Bhuj rally.

The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone and inaugurated multiple development projects worth over Rs 53,400 crore at Bhuj.

After inaugurating the development projects, the PM said that there was a time when the whole of Gujarat would not see such a huge project announcement, and that "now one district will benefit from such a huge development work."

The proposed projects include transmission projects for evacuating renewable power generated in the Khavda Renewable Energy Park, transmission network expansion, and Ultra super critical thermal power plant unit at Tapi.

It also includes projects of the Kandla port and multiple road, water and solar projects of state govt.

These projects will help make India a blue economy of the world, and also a centre of green energy, Modi said.

Tracing the Indian economy's journey to the global big league, the PM said that during his 11 years at the helm, India has climbed up from the 11th place to now 4th.

Earlier, in Dahod, his schedule included a visit to a railway locomotive manufacturing unit and the inauguration the country's first 9,000 horsepower locomotive engine, a locomotive manufacturing shop and rolling stock workshop built at a cost of Rs 21,405 crore.
