"Reports of KP informing the family about a possible suicide are false. The family confirmed the call did not come from Kolkata Police."
The police also said that it did not cremate the body of deceased.
"Kolkata Police didn’t cremate the body of deceased. It was her family who cremated her," they added.
Earlier, the Calcutta High Court criticised the police for its investigation and transferred the probe to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The court also ordered the Kolkata Police to release the case diary and all related documents. Following the order, a CBI team arrived at the scene and dispatched a specialized medical and forensic team from Delhi.
The body of the post-graduate trainee was found in a seminar hall at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital on the morning of August 9. A civic volunteer was arrested on Saturday in connection with the case.
Junior doctors across West Bengal continued their strike on Wednesday, the sixth consecutive day, protesting the alleged rape and murder of the woman doctor and demanding justice. The protest has caused significant disruptions in healthcare services, leading to long waits at government hospital outpatient departments. The junior doctors are also calling for a magisterial investigation and the removal of senior officials at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
