A special NIA court in Kolkata on Friday awarded life sentence to Mohd Mosiuddin, alias Musa, in connection with Burdwan bomb blast in 2014.

Musa was arrested from a passenger train in West Bengal's Burdwan in July 2016 by the state CID, following which the NIA had taken over the probe.

A .38 bore six-chamber revolver, three rounds of ammunition, a knife, a mobile phone and other incriminating articles were seized from him. A laptop and a sword were seized from his house in Tamil Nadu.

Musa was arrested while he was planning to carry out attacks on foreign tourists in West Bengal and Srinagar. Musa had admitted to his contact with ISIS handlers since 2014 and to his links with banned Bangladeshi organisation JMB.

Judge Siddhartha Kanjilal sentenced Musa to life imprisonment after he was found guilty of conspiring to wage a war against the Government of India and collecting men and weapons for the purpose.
