The family of BSF constable, Purnam Kumar Shaw, in Bengal's Rishra, is deeply worried as there is no information on Shaw, who inadvertently crossed the international border near Punjab's Ferozepur district on Wednesday and was reportedly captured by Pakistani rangers. No information about his return could be ascertained yet, even after several flag meetings between BSF and its Pakistani counterpart, sources said.

Shaw's detention has coincided with the stand-off between India and Pakistan in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, where 26 people were killed.

Shaw (40) hails from Hooghly in West Bengal. A team of BSF officials visited Shaw's house on Sunday and assured the family that all measures were being taken to ensure Shaw's return while the family will be going to Ferozpur on Monday, people in the know said. "I am tense about my husband. We, six family members, are going to Chandigarh and then seek help. Otherwise, we will go to Ferozpur. We will wait for seven to ten days and then go to New Delhi if nothing happens," said Purnam Shaw's wife, who is pregnant.
