New Delhi: SC was informed on Thursday that an FIR has been registered against former Union minister's son Ashish Mishra and others by the UP Police in Lakhimpur Kheri for "threatening a witness" in connection with the 2021 Tikunia violence case.

The counsel for the UP government apprised a bench of justices Surya Kant and Joymalya Bagchi that the statement of the witness was recorded and an FIR filed under sections 195A, 506 and 120B of IPC. The counsel said an officer of the rank of DSP was deputed to record the statement of the said witness who verified that there was some kind of pressure on him (witness).

On a request by Mishra, the bench also allowed him to visit his hometown Lakhimpur Kheri for Diwali festival celebrations.
