J&K CM Omar Abdullah on Sunday said that the government is in touch with some private investors to develop ski infrastructure at the famous winter sports destination of Gulmarg in northern Kashmir.

Abdullah was in Gulmarg on Sunday along with his team of legislators and officials during which he briefly interacted with the media.

"We are in touch with some private investors who are ready to install some more ski infrastructure in Gulmarg. If we get any good proposal we will implement it," said Abdullah, adding, "J&K Cable Car Corporation, which runs the two-phase Gondola project in Gulmarg, is also preparing some other projects." Earlier this year, Sajjan Jindal of JSW Group met Abdullah here and informed that he discussed the development of Gulmarg as a world-class ski destination.

Abdullah said Khelo India Winter games, which was postponed due to insufficient snowfall in Gulmarg, could be held in the first week of March if there is good snowfall around February 26. Later, he said there could be heat and it would be difficult to conduct the games.
