Kerala man booked after minor son driving car goes viral on social media

A man in Kerala's Kozhikode has been booked by the police after a video of his minor son driving a Totota Innova on public roads went viral on social media.

The reel shows the 13-year-old boy driving on the road, reportedly near his house in Chekkiad in the north Kerala district.

The video had been uploaded in October last year, but has come to light only recently and a case has been registered soon after, said a police officer to PTI.


The boy's father has been identified as Naushad. The 37-year-old has been booked for allegedly giving the vehicle to his minor son for driving, the police officer said.

"The accused had uploaded the reel on social media in October. Somebody has shared the visuals in our Subhayathra portal recently and we soon initiated action as there was a clear offence," the officer said.

"Subhayathra" is an initiative of the Kerala police to report traffic offences.

The man has been booked under BNS 125 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and various sections of the Motor Vehicle Act, he said.

The police added that Naushad had been accused of driving a car with his son sitting on the top earlier. Visuals of that misadventure had also gone viral on social media. However, a case was not registered against him as it happened within the premises of his house, not on a public road, police said.
