On Saturday, Union Health Secretary Punya Salila Srivastava looked into the rise in COVID-19 cases across several states, especially in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, and Karnataka, as per official sources.

Most of the new cases are said to be mild and are being managed at home. However, the Union Health Ministry is staying alert and is keeping a close watch on the situation through its various agencies, officials said.

The ministry also mentioned that most cases do not require hospital care. The country is still tracking respiratory illnesses through the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) and the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).

The Union Health Ministry remains on guard, taking steps to ensure public safety. Even though COVID-19 is now treated like other viral infections, people are still advised to follow basic precautions such as washing hands regularly, wearing masks in crowded places, and avoiding unnecessary gatherings.
