Karnataka woos Bayer, Philips, Royal Swinkels for investments

Bengaluru: Karnataka industries minister MB Patil held discussions with global companies Bayer, Philips and Royal Swinkels in the Netherlands on Friday, seeking to deepen their investment and manufacturing presence in the state, the industries department said in a statement.

Patil is leading a delegation to the Netherlands to attract industrial investments to Karnataka.

During the meeting with Bayer, a Germany-headquartered life sciences company operating across crop science, pharmaceuticals and consumer health, discussions focused on potential areas of expansion and the company’s interest in India and Karnataka.


"Bayer has a significant research and development and innovation presence in Bengaluru," said Patil.

Discussions with Philips centred on its healthcare technology and innovation footprint in Karnataka. The company highlighted Bengaluru’s role in anchoring its global push in healthcare AI, supported by its largest innovation hub globally.

Philips also reiterated the strategic importance of Karnataka within its India and global innovation footprint, Patil said.

The Karnataka delegation encouraged Philips to explore setting up manufacturing operations in the state, building on its existing R&D and innovation presence, he said.

The delegation also held discussions with Royal Swinkels, an independent Dutch family-owned brewing and malting company with more than 300 years of heritage. The company has major potential for manufacturing in the state, siad Patil.
