The Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Thursday passed a resolution against the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government for seeking to block the proposed Mekedatu reservoir project aimed at providing drinking water to Bengaluru city.

The resolution, moved by CM Basavaraj Bommai, while condemning the neighbouring state, urged the Central Water Commission (CWC) and ministry of environment & forests (MoEF) to hasten clearances to the project proposed at the inter-state border.

The BJP-ruled Karnataka's resolution came as a reaction to TN Assembly's resolution that was passed on March 21.

The resolution urged the centre to block the project saying it will go against the interests of TN's farmers.
