Bengaluru: Karnataka industries minister MB Patil on Tuesday said the state government will set up a joint consultative committee with industry bodies to address issues faced by industries, including project delays.

The committee, comprising a senior government official and representatives from private industry, will aim to strengthen a hassle free industrial ecosystem and enable faster resolution of procedural and operational issues in the sector, the minister said in a statement.

Patil was speaking at the annual meeting of the state chapter of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Bengaluru.

According to the minister, CII representatives highlighted a similar platform operating in Kerala, where the chief secretary and industry leaders jointly address concerns faced by the industrial sector.

“They informed us that the system has been working very effectively. We will adopt a similar model here as well. Overall, we are open to adopting any constructive measures that can support industrial growth,” Patil said.

Kerala has institutional mechanisms such as the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC) and the Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (KINFRA), which support faster project development in the state’s industrial sector.

KSIDC, a key state agency, is responsible for promoting industrial and investment opportunities in Kerala.

Patil said Karnataka has already rolled out several initiatives to support industry, including an updated industrial policy, energy policy, a single-window clearance system, chatbot services and an integrated services network.

“All necessary steps will be taken without delay to ensure that the state remains at the forefront of industrial growth. Along with ease of doing business, we are also giving priority to the speed of innovation,” he said.

Among those present at the event were chairman of Muthoot Fincorp Thamman John Muthoot, chairman of the CII Karnataka State Council Ravindra Srikantan, and vice chairman Guruprasad Mudlapura, among others.
