The state government is planning a 'Pandemic Preparedness Innovation Centre' to deal with challenges posed by any pandemic to both humans, animals and the environment.

The meeting took note of cases of new viruses that are being found post Covid-19 and decided to take steps to deal with similar challenges, if they were to arise, in future.

The government aims to achieve this by collaborating with Bharat Biotech and University of Madison- Wisconsin- Madison. This would also facilitate sharing of knowledge between the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Karnataka, according to the IT/BT Minister. The government, he added, was prepared to take necessary steps at its end to take the idea forward.

Bharat Biotech co-founder Krishna Ella, Additional Chief Secretary (IT-BT) EV Ramana Reddy, Oncologist Dr Vishal Rao, Bharat Biotech MD Ravi and others were present at the meeting.
