Karnataka: IPS Roopa, IAS Rohini transferred without posting a day after public spat
Karnataka on Tuesday transferred two senior women bureaucrats who were involved in a bitter public spat, causing huge embarrassment to the government.

With the social media war getting uglier by the day between IPS officer and Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Managing Director Roopa D, and IAS officer and Commissioner of Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments, Rohini Sindhuri Dasari, the state government decided to transfer the two but did not specify their new posting.

The decision to transfer the two officers came a day after the intervention of Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. "The public spat between two officers has come as an embarrassment to the government. We can't tolerate irresponsible behaviour of the officers. I have asked the Chief Secretary to issue notices to both," Bommai had said yesterday.

Both the officers had lodged complaints and counter complaints against each other with the Chief Secretary of the government, Vandita Sharma. The matter was also discussed in the cabinet meeting held on Monday. The ministers had raised their concern about the public fights of officers affecting the image of the government.

Both the officers entered confrontational mode after Roopa published Rohini's private pictures and alleged that she had sent them to IAS officers and also questioned corruption allegations against her.

Rohini Sinduri's husband had called Roopa "mentally ill", while Rohini had asked her to get well soon before the media.

Reacting to this, Roopa posted a screen shot containing deleted messages and alleged that Rohini had sent nude pictures on WhatsApp. She had questioned whether an IAS officer could send her naked pictures?

Meanwhile, Roopa's husband, Munish Moudgil, who was Commissioner, Survey Settlement, and Land Records, has been transferred to the post of Principal Secretary, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms, with immediate effect.
