Karnataka Govt to create internal committee to appeal to finance commission: Siddaramaiah on X Spaces
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced that the government will form an internal committee to appeal to the Finance Commission to increase the state's share of revenue to 5% from 3.7%. He emphasized that states cannot exit the current GST and devol...

Speaking in his debut X Spaces appearance, the CM said that while the states do not have the option of exiting the current GST and devolution system, the Congress party would gather MPs and MLAs and fight for the states’ rights at the Central level. “We have accepted a democratic, federal system. In such a case, China type of central monopoly and American presidential type of governance cannot be accepted,” he said,
The CM was interacting with twitterati and pro-Kannada activists as a part of the now viral campaign of #MyTaxMyRight. With Lok Sabha polls months away, southern states, ruled by the Congress and its allies have been cornering the BJP, alleging inequality in funds devolution.
Slamming the minister of parliamentary affairs Prahlad Joshi for his recent statement blaming Siddaramaiah himself for the inequality, the CM said the MP from Dharwad had forgotten what region he represented in the Lok Sabha. “He is justifying the injustice without questioning the injustice being done to the state…[former CMs] BS Yeddyurappa and Basavarj Bommai never tried to bring the state's share as chief ministers either,” he said.
The Congress, he said, was in favour of democracy and a federal system. “A country means a union of states. If the states are secure, the country will also be secure,” he added.
