Karnataka govt hospitals to start vaccination from tomorrow for 18-44 age group

As for districts, district hospitals, government medical colleges and all taluk hospitals will give vaccines initially, and the government will expand the number of vaccination centres in sync with the increase in supply, the minister said.
Only those in the 18-44 year age group, who have registered on the Co-win site and scheduled an appointment will get their jab.
"The government is leaving no stone unturned to vaccinate each and every citizen at the earliest ," Sudhakar said.
Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa launched the fourth phase of vaccination drive after the Centre expanded the coverage to the 18-44 year age group. There are about 3.26 crore people in the state in this age group and the government would require 6.52 crore doses to fully vaccinate them with two doses.
The government, health minister said, has already placed orders for two crore doses of Covishield and one crore doses of Covaxin. Serum Institute which manufactures Covishield has already supplied 6.5 lakh doses of vaccine. More consignments will come by May second or third week, he added.
