Surjewala has demanded an independent investigation by a special investigation team (SIT) under the Supreme Court's supervision. In a separate tweet, AICC leader Rahul Gandhi said the state government was trying to "cover-up" the Bitcoin scam. The state government has replied to all the questions raised by Surjewala, Bommai told reporters in Bengaluru.
The BJP and Congress have been hurling charges at each other on the Bitcoin heist case after the Bengaluru Police filed a charge sheet before a local court naming Srikrishna alias Sriki and others as the prime accused. The case has acquired importance because of the high-profile connections Sriki enjoys including with children of top politicians and businessmen.
Bommai wondered why Congress, which was in power, did not pursue the Bitcoin case and, instead, let off the accused in 2018 after arresting him. "We don't have to learn lessons from those who let off an accused," the CM said.
