Rolo, a Belgian Malinois, had just turned two years old last month. He was part of a 21-day operation carried out by the CRPF and Chhattisgarh Police at the Karreguttalu Hills, located on the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. He had been trained at the CRPF’s Dog Breeding and Training School in Bengaluru and joined anti-Naxal duty in April 2024 with the 228th battalion.
While on a search mission during the operation, Rolo was suddenly attacked by a swarm of bees. His handlers quickly tried to protect him by covering him with a plastic sheet. However, the bees got inside the cover and continued their attack.
In extreme pain and panic, Rolo shook off the sheet, which made things worse. Around 200 bee stings were found on his body. The stings made him unconscious. His CRPF team immediately tried to save him by rushing him for medical help.
Rolo was more than just a dog — he was a soldier who gave his life in service to the country.
