DY Chandrachud studied law at Delhi University in 1982, after which he obtained LLM degree and a Doctorate in Juridical Sciences (SJD) from the prestigious Harvard Law School.

Justice Chandrachud became a senior advocate at the Bombay High Court before he became a judge there in 2000. In 2013, he became the Chief Justice of Allahabad HC, three years after which he was appointed at the Supreme Court.

Landmark judgements
