Numerous roads, including Raj Bhavan Road, Khairatabad, Nampally, Somajiguda, and Abids, were inundated due to the heavy rainfall that began around 5.30 pm. Social media was flooded with videos and photographs shared by motorists, showing water gushing onto the roads from overhead Metro pillars in Attapur, vehicles partially submerged on clogged stretches in Malakpet, and two-wheeler riders navigating through overflowing bylanes in Musarambagh. As the city struggled with the consequences of the rain, complaints of traffic congestion poured in, prompting the Cyberabad police to issue a warning to IT and other employees to exercise caution while commuting.
Residents expressed their frustration at spending hours stuck on flooded roads. Many took to social media to share their ordeals, highlighting the lack of effective traffic management during the high-intensity rain. Ramu Krishna, a netizen, sought official intervention by posting images of inundated streets in Abids and Koti.
In response to the waterlogging and tree fall complaints, the Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams were swiftly deployed to various locations across the city. The Enforcement Vigilance and Disaster Management (EV&DM) wing received a total of 12 complaints, primarily related to water stagnation and tree fall incidents. Fortunately, no injuries were reported when the DRF team responded to a wall collapse incident at Shakti Apartment in Ameerpet.
As the rains continue to pose challenges to the city's infrastructure and commuting, authorities remain vigilant and residents are advised to take necessary precautions to ensure their safety during this period of heavy rainfall.
