JNU entrance exam to be conducted when safe for students: VC Jagdesh Kumar
The VC on Wednesday said canceling the Class 12 board exams was pragmatic and rational considering the pandemic, and the University will adjust its academic calender accordingly if the decision to delay the entrance exam is taken.

"We will conduct the entrance examination whenever it is safe for the students to write. If the entrance is delayed due to the pandemic situation and if the admission of the students happens at a later date than usual, we will surely adjust our academic calendar to take care of the lost time without compromising the academic rigour," said Kumar in a statement.
VC Jagdesh Kumar also suggested Universities to formulate procedures for undergraduate admissions that are fair and transparent.
"We need to find optimal solutions rather than feel anxious about the challenges faced by the pandemic. Our Indian educational system is capable of meeting these challenges," Kumar said.
The decision to cancel CBSE board examination for Class 12 for this year was taken after a review meeting chaired by PM Narendra Modi in lieu of the uncertain situation due to the coronavirus pandemic and feedback from stakeholders. The government is set to compile the resuls of Class 12 students according to an objective criteria in a time-bound manner. The option to take the exam will also be provided to any student should the situation becomes conducive.
