Ruling National Conference and BJP held separate protests in Srinagar
Srinagar: The ruling National Conference (NC) and BJP took out separate protests in Srinagar accusing each other of betraying Jammu and Kashmir and failing to fulfil the promises made to the people here.

BJP state chief Sat Sharma, along with Leader of the Opposition in J&K assembly, Sunil Sharma, led a massive protest rally in the heart of Srinagar city at Lal Chowk and were planning "civil secretariat gherao", but were disallowed by the police who had barricaded the roads and put concertina wire at several places.

The National Conference leadership, led by Sakina Ittoo, a minister in Omar Abdullah's Cabinet and other senior MLAs like Ali Muhammad Sagar and Shamima Firdous, led a protest towards BJP's office in Jawahar Nagar area on the other side of river Jhelum that passes right through Srinagar city. Police stopped the NC protest at Rajbagh police station and disallowed them from moving towards BJP's office. Several NC leaders and members were temporarily detained.
