The family of a youth who reportedly ended his life by jumping into the Chenab river in Akhnoor, Jammu & Kashmir, last month, has discovered his body in Pakistan. Harash Nagotra, a resident of a border village, went missing on June 11, and his motorcycle was found along the riverbank. Now, his relatives are appealing for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's assistance in repatriating his remains for final rites.

"Preliminary investigation suggested that he might have ended his life by jumping into the river after suffering a loss of over Rs 80,000 in an online gaming application," an official said.

Nagotra's family received confirmation of his death through a WhatsApp message from a Pakistani official, after the parents reactivated a SIM card of their son who worked in a private telecommunication company.

Nagotra's father, stated that the message came from a Pakistani official claiming to work in the post-mortem department, who informed them that the body was recovered from a canal in Sialkot, Punjab province, on June 13.

The official notified Nagotra's father that the body had already been buried and also sent Nagotra's identity card to the family via WhatsApp, confirming the recovered body in Sialkot as their missing son.

"We request our prime minister to help us get back the body of my son for last rites. We want to perform his last rites as per our religion," Nagotra's father said.
