J&K LG Sinha suspends 2 more government employees for 'anti-national' activities
Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir LG Manoj Sinha on Wednesday terminated the services of two more government employees for their alleged involvement in anti-national activities.

The two employees dismissed under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution have been identified as Muhammad Shafi Dar of Bandipora, who was working as a Class-IV employee (plantation watcher) in the rural development department, and Farhat Ali Khanday of Banihal, who was serving as a Class-IV employee in the school education department.

According to orders issued by the J&K administration, under Article 311(2)(c), the activities of these employees warranted their dismissal from service "in the interest of the security of the state," and it was "not expedient to hold an inquiry". Officials said that cases under UAPA had been registered against both employees in separate police stations, and that Khanday had earlier been jailed and later released on bail.

At least 89 government employees have been terminated since 2021, when the J&K administration constituted a task force to scrutinise employees suspected of activities warranting action under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution. This provision states that retention of a person in public service, if prejudicial to the security of the state, can be terminated without recourse to a normal inquiry. This law was extended to Jammu & Kashmir after abrogation of its special status on August 5, 2019.
