A female passenger shared on social media platform X a distressing experience she had during a flight from Kolkata to Abu Dhabi, en route to Boston. She accused Dinesh Kumar Saraogi, a senior executive at Jindal Steel, of molestation. She stated that Saraogi, who appeared to be around 65 years old and living in Oman, was seated next to her. Initially, their conversation was innocuous, covering topics like family and background.
Allegations Detailed
The woman recounted that the conversation shifted to hobbies, with Saraogi asking if she enjoyed watching movies. When she responded affirmatively, he offered to show her some movie clips on his phone. However, she alleged that he proceeded to show her explicit pornographic content and began groping her. Shocked and terrified, she managed to escape to the washroom and reported the incident to the flight staff.

The Etihad team responded swiftly and proactively. They relocated her to a different seating area, provided her with refreshments, and ensured her safety. Meanwhile, Saraogi repeatedly inquired about her whereabouts. The flight staff also alerted the Abu Dhabi police, who were ready at the gate upon the aircraft's arrival. Although she could not file a formal complaint due to the risk of missing her connecting flight to Boston, she was escorted safely to the next gate to prevent further contact with Saraogi.
Naveen Jindal, Chairman of Jindal Steel and Power, addressed the woman's tweet. He assured her that the company maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards such incidents. "I have instructed my team to investigate the matter promptly and take the strictest and necessary action," Jindal stated.
Raising Awareness
The woman expressed her gratitude towards the Etihad Airways staff and Abu Dhabi police for their prompt support. By sharing her ordeal, she hopes to raise awareness and prevent such incidents in the future. "I want to raise awareness and remind others that such incidents can happen to anyone," she said.
Prior to his resignation, Dinesh Kumar Saraogi's LinkedIn profile, he is currently the CEO of Vulcan Green Steel, part of the Jindal Steel Group. Previously, he served as CEO of Jindal Steel & Power Ltd and has had a long career within the Jindal Steel group in various capacities. During their conversation on the flight, Saraogi mentioned he was from Churu in Rajasthan and that his sons were settled in the US.
