A train accident involving individuals on the tracks occurred on Wednesday at the Kala Jharia railway station in Jamtara district of Jharkhand.

Officials clarified that the incident did not involve passengers but two individuals walking on the railway tracks. This occurred at least 2 kilometers away from train number 12254 passing from Vidyasagar Kasitar.

"Two persons walking on the track were run over by the train at least 2 km away from train no. 12254 passing from Vidyasagar Kasitar. There is no incident of fire. The deceased are not passengers. A 3-member JAG committee has been formed to enquire about the issue," Kaushik Mitra, CPRO of Eastern Railway told ANI.


Medical teams and ambulances have been rushed to the spot, an official stated.

President Droupadi Murmu expressed her condolences for the tragic train accident in Jamtara district, Jharkhand. "The news of sudden death of many people in a train accident in Jamtara district of Jharkhand is extremely saddening. I express my deepest condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of those injured," the President wrote on X.
