Jharkhand excise fitness camp turns adverse for candidates; 16 fall sick during constable physical efficiency test

On Wednesday, over a dozen candidates experienced health issues such as vomiting and discomfort on the second day of the excise constable physical efficiency test in Ranchi. Officials reported that everyone recovered quickly after receiving treatment at medical camps and local hospitals.

At Jharkhand Jaguar in Ranchi, six candidates fainted on the track. Five of them were treated with oxygen at a medical camp and recovered. Suraj Kumar, from Bhagalpur in Bihar, was taken to a district hospital and has since recovered.

Jharkhand Jaguar SP mentioned that some candidates were briefly hospitalized at Sadar hospital but were discharged quickly.


However, Civil Surgeon Dr. Prabhat Kumar stated he had no records of such admissions, noting, "Unless I go through the admission register, it is difficult to say if anyone from the test centre was brought to the hospital."

In addition, two candidates from Sahibganj and one each from Ranchi Smart City and Giridih were treated at local government hospitals after falling ill.

The in-charges at these centres confirmed their recovery. Four candidates from both Sahibganj and Giridih were also hospitalized on Wednesday, though state police had initially denied any hospitalizations. The centre heads later confirmed that all were discharged after recovery.

At the Hazaribag centre, six candidates fell ill. Dr. S P Singh, Civil Surgeon of Hazaribag, reported that a five-member medical team attended to them, allowing all six to complete their 10 km run within an hour.

Additional Director General of Police, RI Mallick, stated that he has requested daily reports on hospitalizations from all centres but has yet to receive the day's information.

The test is taking place across six locations: Smart City Ranchi, Jharkhand Jaguar Ranchi, Police Line Giridih, Jharkhand Armed Police Training Centre Hazaribag, Constable Training Centre Musabani (East Singhbhum), and Jharkhand Armed Police-9 Sahibganj.
