At least 15 people suffered burn injuries while doing stunts with fire during a Muharram procession in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district, police said on Monday.

The incident happened in Turaon-Pouta village on Sunday night, they said.

A gallon of diesel caught fire, injuring participants of the procession, Mufassil police station's in-charge Kunal Kishore said.

Those injured were rushed to the Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital (SBMCH).

"Fifteen people were brought to the hospital on Sunday night. Ten of them were discharged on Monday morning following requests from their families," SBMCH superintendent AK Purty said.

Four people are undergoing treatment in the hospital at present, while one critically injured person was referred to RIMS in Ranchi, he said.
