Professor Kh. Lokeshwar Singh, Medical Superintendent of JNIMS Hospital stated: "In the interest of patient safety, all current in-patients are to be evacuated from the hospital wards with immediate effect. Additionally, no new admissions will be accepted until further notice."
He added that the decision aims to ensure the well-being and safety of patients amidst the challenging situation.
Manipur is battling the fury of monsoon. Localities including Yaingangpokpi, Seijang, Lamlai, Kshetrigao, Kongpal, Wangkhei, Porompat, and Sawombung remain under floodwaters.
Wangjing rivers overflowed and unleashed a fury in Thoubal district. Landslides and mudslides have paralyzed movement on key national highways.
The government has ordered closure of schools and colleges on September 17.
