The Goa government will make Jan Aushadi counters mandatory at all pharmacies in the state to ensure that high-quality generic medicines are available to every section of society, state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said on Monday.

The health department will issue a circular in this regard within 48 hours, the minister said on the occasion of Jan Aushadi day. "On #JanAushadiDiwas, we have taken a collective decision to put up a Jan Aushadi counter at all pharmacies in the state of Goa. We will be strictly implementing this, a vision of the Hon'ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji to provide access to quality medicines," Rane tweeted.

The health department's circular will be implemented and monitored by the director of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Goa, he said. The move will ensure that high quality generic medicines are available to every section of the society, and pharmacies across the state will have to abide by this, Rane said in another tweet.
