Indian and, Russian Foreign Ministers on Wednesday held a telephone conversation and exchanged views on the situation around Iran, emphasizing the need for its prompt normalization.

They underscored support for the contribution of the SCO and BRICS to efforts aimed at de-escalating the situation and creating conditions for achieving a sustainable settlement based on a balance of the legitimate interests of all parties.

The Ministers also discussed certain aspects of the bilateral agenda, including the schedule of upcoming political contacts.


“A good telecon with Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov of Russia. Shared our assessments on the West Asia conflict and related diplomatic efforts. Also took stock of our bilateral cooperation agenda. @mfa_russia,” EAM S Jaishankar wrote on X following his conversation with Russian FM Sergey Lavrov.

The conversation happened amid intense in Russian oil supplies to India. Russian oil supplies are critical to ensure energy security in India.

Meanwhile, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday congratulated UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on His 65th Birthday via Telephone

He wished him robust health, well-being, and continued success, and noted his significant personal contribution to strengthening the strategic partnership between Russia and the UAE, according to Russian Government readout.

They continued their exchange of views regarding the dangerously deteriorating situation in the Middle East region, which is resulting in grave consequences for Iran as well as for Arab nations. Putin emphasized the necessity of halting further escalation of the conflict and resolving it through negotiations.

Putin expressed gratitude to the UAE President for the assistance and support extended to the numerous Russian citizens currently residing in the Emirates.

This was second conversation between Presidents of Russia and UAE since the Iran war.
