Jahangirpuri violence: Delhi Police arrests one accused from East Midnapore district

Farid (31) had fled from Delhi after the incident and returned to his relative’s house in Tamluk.

Jahangirpuri riots' key accused Farid arrested by Delhi Police from West Bengal
One person, Farid alias Neetu, was arrested from East Midnapore district's Tamluk by Delhi Police on Thursday in connection with the Jahangirpuri communal violence that took place on April 16.

Farid (31) had fled from Delhi after the incident and returned to his relative’s house in Tamluk.

Farid was one of the accused in the Jahangirpuri violence in Delhi. Police have taken him on transit remand and will be taken to New Delhi.


Following the incident in Delhi, Faird had fled from Delhi and reached Howrah Station. He went to Tamluk to a relative’s house and stayed there for the last few days.

In 2010, several cases of theft, dacoity and snatching was lodged against Farid. Farid has been involved in over six cases of robbery and burglary and those related to the Arms Act among others.

The clashes took place between two communities during a procession on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti on April 16 in New Delhi’s Jahangirpuri.
