'Italy and India closer than ever': Meloni sets €20 billion trade target under special partnership
Narendra Modi and Giorgia Meloni held extensive bilateral talks in Rome, announcing a major push to India-Italy relations across trade, defence, AI, innovation, energy and Indo-Pacific cooperation. Meloni described PM Modi’s visit as ‘historic’ and said the partnership had reached its ‘highest ever level.’ The leaders also discussed the India-EU Free Trade Agreement, Ukraine, West Asia, critical minerals, startups and the launch of the Italy-India Year of Culture and Tourism 2027.
