IT ministry blocked Telegram channel that allegedly targeting Hindu women
A derogatory channel, similar to the ongoing 'Bulli Bai' controversy, came to light yesterday allegedly targeting Hindu women on the cross-platform Telegram.

Photos of Hindu women were allegedly shared on the channel created on Telegram and has been banned, according to IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. A complaint on Twitter mentioned that the channel was created in June last year in which the group members allegedly targeted Hindu women.

After a series of viral Tweets emerged on the microblogging platform Twitter, the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology blocked the channel.

Vaishnaw added that the government is cooperating with state police authorities to take further actions.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police handed the 'Bulli Bai' case to the Delhi Police's Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations unit, and officials claimed they are hoping to secure approval for a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty procedure to obtain information about the app from its foreign-based hosting platform.

Alongside, cyber sleuths of the Mumbai Police have detained a woman from Uttarakhand in connection with the case related to GitHub-hosted ‘Bulli Bai’ webpage where more than 100 Muslim women were apparently put up for 'auction'.

Earlier, the cyber cell detained a 21-year-old engineering student, identified as Vishal Singh, from Karnataka’s Bengaluru in connection with the case.

Influential Muslim women, including social workers and journalists, were singled out and their doctored photographs were uploaded on 'Bulli Bai'.
