Israel-Palestine Crisis: Air India cancels flight operations to Tel Aviv amidst attacks

Indian airline Air India has cancelled its operations from Delhi to Tel Aviv and the returning flight on October 7, 2023 due to the unrest in Israel after the attack on the country by Palestinian Islamist group Hamas.

"An Air India Flight from Delhi to Tel Aviv on October 7, 2023 and the return flight AI140 from Tel Aviv to Delhi has been cancelled in the interests and safety of our guests and crew," said an Air India spokesperson.

The spokesperson has said that the passengers are being extended all support, as per their requirements.


Israel-Palestine Conflict:
Palestinian Islamist group Hamas launched the biggest attack on Israel in years on Saturday, killing at least 40 people and wounding hundreds in a surprise assault that combined gunmen crossing into Israel with a barrage of rockets fired from Gaza.

"Our enemy will pay a price the type of which it has never known," Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said

Israel's ambulance service said at least 40 Israelis were killed and hundreds wounded in the Hamas attack but the total appeared likely to rise.

The Israeli military said it had responded with air strikes into Gaza, where witnesses reported hearing heavy explosions and multiple dead and wounded being carried into hospitals.

Gaza health officials said 198 Palestinians had been killed in airstrikes as bombardments hit deep into Gaza City, sending clouds of black smoke spiralling into the sky.
