Kolkata: ISKCON followers participate in a special prayer at ISKCON temple to protest against attacks on Hindus and monks in Bangladesh, in Kolkata.
Iskcon organised worldwide prayers for the safety of minorities in Bangladesh, Iskcon spokesperson Radharaman Das said.

In London's Times Square, Iskcon members held protests. "The situation in Bangladesh is serious. We have to urge God for peace to return to Bangladesh. From Los Angeles to New York, Iceland to New Zealand... everywhere, the monks and disciples will pray to Lord Krishna. We have 850 big temples in 150 countries across the world and there are many centres globally. Prayers will be conducted at every centre across the country," Das said, adding: "Our language of protest is prayer."

Das said two monks who went to deliver food and medicines to Chinmay Krishna Das in jail on Saturday were also arrested. This shows how serious the situation is.

After Chinmoy's arrest, four more monks were arrested, including Ranganath Shyamsunder Das and Rudrapati Keshav Das. Radharaman Das posted on X, sharing a photo of one of the arrested monks, "Does he look like a terrorist?"

"Unless safety and security is assured to minorities, we will not cross the border," another monk said.

Sayan Ghosh, a resident of Belghoria in North Kolkata who went to meet a friend in Bangladesh, claimed that he was beaten up by fundamentalists in Bangladesh on November 26 because he revealed his identity as an Indian Hindu. He returned from Gede border in Nadia on Sunday. "The situation was peaceful when I reached there on November 23. On November 26, I was standing in front of a shop in Dhaka where I was attacked by five-six people. They asked about my identity and started beating me when I told them I am Hindu from India," Ghosh told ET.

In Gopalganj, Hindus have been attacked and temples broken. Riya Saha, who returned to her in-laws' house in Kolkata, said, "The situation near Dhaka is serious. There is no problem in Faridpur where my parents stay. But I am worried about my parents as my father will have to return to Faridpur."
