Ishita Kishore, Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N: Meet the first three rankers of UPSC 2022

At the UPSC 2022 results declared on Tuesday, Ishita Kishore secured the first spot while the 2nd, 3rd and 4th ranks were bagged by Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi N and Smriti Mishra, respectively.

This is the second year in a row when women candidates bagged the top three positions.

Lohia and Mishra are Delhi University graduates. Harathi N is a B.Tech degree holder from IIT-Hyderabad.


Kishore is a graduate in Economics (Hons.) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, University of Delhi. She qualified UPSC 2022 examination with political science and international relations as her optional subject.

Lohia is a graduate in Commerce from Kirorimal College, University of Delhi. She secured the second rank with Commerce and Accountancy as her optional.

Harathi N, who secured third rank, is a B.Tech in Civil Engineering from IIT-Hyderabad. She cleared the exam with Anthropology as her optional subject.

Fourth ranker Mishra is a graduate (B. Sc.) from Miranda House College, University of Delhi. She had Zoology as her optional subject.

As many as 933 candidates have qualified the civil services examination 2022. Of them, 613 are men and 320 women.

There are 14 women and 11 men in the top 25 candidates this year.

UPSC conducts the civil services examination every year in three stages — preliminary, main and interview to select officers for IAS, IFS and IPS, among others.
