Delhi-NCR receives light rain, respite from increased air pollution
In a welcome turn of events, Delhi NCR residents were greeted with a refreshing surprise on Friday morning as light rain graced the city, giving them a much-needed reprieve from hazardous levels of air pollution. This timely rain brought relief by washing away the lingering toxic pollutants that had plagued the region for days.

Several users took to social media platforms to discuss whether the sudden change of weather was the result of artificial rain or real.

"Is this the artificial rain that IIT Kanpur had proposed?," asked one user on X.

Some even say that god saved the money to be spent on artifical rain. "Chalo artificial rain ke paise bache!!," said another user.

The surprise rain, with no prior forecast, comes amid Delhi government contemplating on the prospect of resorting to 'artificial rain' to combat the ongoing pollution crisis. Government officials shared that a decision to conduct 'artificial rain' had been taken on Thursday in a bid to enhance air quality.

The Delhi government reportedly indicated that it will bear the entire cost of the impending artificial rain endeavor aimed at alleviating severe air pollution in the city. Provided it gets a nod from the Centre, the Delhi government intends to initiate the artificial rain process by November 20, as announced on Thursday.

Environment Minister Gopal Rai shared that the Kejriwal government is actively preparing to combat air pollution in Delhi through the implementation of cloud seeding for inducing artificial rain. During a meeting with scientists from IIT-Kanpur, it was clarified that cloud seeding can only be executed in the presence of clouds or atmospheric moisture.
