Anika Rastogi, a third-year BA LLB (Hons) student, reportedly died from cardiac arrest, TOI reported.
Rastogi was the daughter of a 1998 batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer currently serving with the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
In an official statement, the university expressed its sorrow: "It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely demise of Ms. Anika Rastogi, a third-year BA LLB (Hons) student, who passed away last night around 10 pm due to cardiac arrest."
Further investigations into the incident are underway.
Similar cases
While the matter is being investigated, the officials suspected that the student might have been ragged.
In another incident, a 23-year-old MTech student at IIT Guwahati, originally from Uttar Pradesh, was found hanging in her hostel room on August 9, 2024.
Her friends raised the alarm after noticing her absence from classes. The police are investigating the incident, and the body has been sent for a post-mortem examination. This marks the third unnatural student death at the institute this year.
