Ravi Kota, Additional Chief Secretary of Assam said that investment is a priority for Assam and the North-East and 17 MOUs valuing 11,753 crores investment is in the pipeline in Assam.

Speaking at an event of the ASSOCHAM, he said investment is a priority for Assam and the North-East. Around 17 MOUs valuing 11,753 crores investment is in the pipeline in Assam. There 4000 crore investment in the Solar energy sector. A Semi-conductor plant is being set in Nagaon in an area of 500 acres.

Abhishek Singh, Joint Secretary, (Economic Diplomacy) Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India mentioned the 26-billion-dollar PLI initiative which is impacting 14 pivotal sectors. He also mentioned regarding the Prime Minister’s Gati Shakti scheme.


B Kalyan Chakravarthy, Principal Secretary, Labour Welfare, Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship and Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam mentioned that since the North-East is a land of Culture, he advised for upgradation of skills of youth in that sector in various sectors of media. He emphasized that since there is ample youth in the region, the best way to upgrade their livelihood is handholding and upgrading their skills.

Ruhul Amin, Assistant High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Guwahati said that North-East India has a vast international boundary with Bangladesh but the somewhere it is the least connected region with Bangladesh. He lauded the infrastructure sector development of North-Eastern region and advised on upgradation of the Energy sector in the region. He addressed the People to people connect in the sectors of Tourism, trade and connectivity. He advised on product promotion of North-East to the Bangladesh as it is a vast market.

Sanjive Narain, Chairman ASSOCHAM Northeastern Region Council mentioned that Energy, Mobility, and Infrastructure are key for growth and there is massive development of rail, air, road, waterways. He asked fellow industry members to utilize the opportunity of the modern infrastructure being constructed, for advancing trade, travel, and tourism in the future.

Sandeep Khaitan, Vice Chairman, ASSOCHAM Northeast Region Council mentioned MSMEs are key contributors to the growth of any region as they contribute to innovation and skill development, and they also are key enablers of export growth. He stated Assam offers conducive business policies and requested greater engagement with industry for setting up the road map.
