Manipur police stated that on Monday and Tuesday, intermittent firing by unknown armed miscreants was reported in the adjoining hills near Bethel, Haraothel and Koutruk villages.

Security forces retaliated and repelled the miscreants.

Police stated that during the last 24 hours, the situation in the state was tense with sporadic incidents of firing and congregation of protestors. Search operations were conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Bishnupur and Kangpokpi districts in which 11 arms and 78 ammunition were recovered.


“On August 14 and August 15, intermittent firing by unknown armed miscreants was reported in the adjoining hills near Bethel, Haraothel and Koutruk villages. Security forces retaliated and repelled the miscreants.” Police stated.
