Gandhi took to his social media account on X to call out the BJP-led government in the state over the incident, and claimed that law and order are 'almost non-existent' in states governed by the saffron party.
"The violence against two army soldiers and the rape of their female companion in Madhya Pradesh is enough to shame the entire society. Law and order in BJP ruled states is almost non existent - and, the negative attitude of BJP Government towards the day by day increasing crimes against women is extremely worrying," Gandhi wrote on X.
The Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha further stated that this incident reflects the total failure of administration and an unsafe environment in the country.
Gandhi called out the Mohan Yadav-led state government in MP and said that society and government should be ashamed of such incidents.
Army trainees attacked in MP; friend gangraped
Near Indore, just 50 km away, two young Army officers and their female friends were attacked by a group of men, who gang-raped one of the women at gunpoint near the historic Jam Gate.Additional SP Rupesh Dwivedi reported on Wednesday night that six suspects have been identified, with two detained from the nearby jungle.
During the attack, both Army officers were injured. One officer managed to contact his senior officers, but by the time police from Mhow arrived—30 km away—the woman had already been raped.
The incident occurred on Tuesday night when the group had driven to Ahilya Gate near Jam Gate on the Mhow-Mandleshwar road.
What happened on the night of the crime?
One officer and his female friend were in the car when 6-7 men assaulted them. The second pair, on a nearby hillock, rushed down upon hearing the commotion.The attackers held all four at gunpoint, took one officer and the woman hostage, and demanded Rs 10 lakh from the remaining officer, allowing him to alert his seniors, who then notified the police.
A large police team was sent to the scene, but the attackers had fled into the forest. The victims were taken to Mhow Civil Hospital around 6:30 am, where medical examination confirmed the woman had been gang-raped, and both officers had injuries.
Badgonda police have filed a case under BNS sections 70 (gang-rape), 310-2 (dacoity), 308-2 (extortion), and 115-2 (voluntarily causing hurt), along with Arms Act sections.
Police forces from four stations are searching the forests near Chhoti Jaam village, and two suspects have been apprehended so far.
