Jakarta: India and Indonesia are planning to work on enhancing connectivity, capacity building and visa facilitation. Indian envoy Sandeep Chakraborty recently met Indonesia's tourism minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana to explore measures to boost tourism ahead of President Prabowo Subianto's India visit later this month.

On the card is a direct flight between New Delhi and Jakarta, as per people in the know.

According to Chakravorty, collaboration between India and Indonesia could also include Indonesian investment in India. Certain investment deals could be announced during the presidential trip. So far, 17 Indonesian companies have invested in India. At least three Indian pharmaceutical companies are eyeing investment opportunities in Indonesia, according to Chakravorty.

Chakravorty also referred to collaboration between Indian and Indonesian healthcare providers. Prabowo is also seeking Indian help to address doctors' shortage.
