External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar meets UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper, in New Delhi on Thursday
UK foreign secretary Yvette Cooper on Thursday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and external affairs minister S Jaishankar to advance the India-UK comprehensive strategic partnership, even as they sought implementation of CETA at an early date.

Modi and Cooper reviewed the bilateral relationship and discussed joint economic and strategic ambitions. The meeting reaffirmed their commitment to the long-term India-UK Vision 2035 roadmap.

The talks between Jaishankar and Cooper centred on deepening cooperation across trade, technology, supply chains, defence and the formal review of delivery.

India and the UK are well-positioned to construct a new future-oriented and mutually beneficial partnership on the back of their newly firmed-up comprehensive trade deal and the defence industrial roadmap, Jaishankar said in his opening remarks during the meeting. Jaishankar and Cooper oversaw the expansion of educational ties, including a letter of approval for the University of Liverpool to establish a campus in Bengaluru.
