Indirapuram may be finally handed over to Ghaziabad municipality in two months; CM Yogi orders GDA
Yogi Adityanath has instructed the Ghaziabad Development Authority to complete the handover of Indirapuram township to the Ghaziabad Municipal Corporation (GMC) by February. The directive follows a prior order by the principal secretary of housing...

During his visit to the National Capital Region (NCR) for the Gautam Buddha University’s annual convocation ceremony, the Chief Minister met with Sahibabad MLA Sunil Sharma and BJP councillors from Indirapuram to address the ongoing issue. Indirapuram ward number 100 councillor Sanjay Singh revealed that the CM, in the presence of GDA vice-chairperson RK Singh, GMC commissioner Vikramaditya Singh Malik, and Mayor Sunita Dayal, directed the completion of pending works in the township—repairing roads, sewers, and street lighting—and subsequently handing over the township to the GMC.
Singh stated, "The CM set a February deadline for completion of handover processes before the dates for the general election are announced." He further mentioned that UP principal secretary (urban development) Amrit Abhijat has scheduled a meeting on January 28 to discuss the modalities of the handover.
A GDA official, confirming the CM's directive, refrained from providing further details on the matter. The handover process for Indirapuram has been in progress since 2016. Both the development authority and the municipal corporation have conducted surveys, but a consensus on terms and conditions is yet to be reached.
The corporation has urged the GDA to either complete development work in these areas or pay Rs 365 crore to the civic body to carry it out on its behalf. After negotiations, the amount was reduced to Rs 288 crore, but a stalemate persists as discussions continue.
